Description
Trinity College London Music Theory Supplement
Trinity Music Theory Supplement for Grades 1–5
Designed to be used alongside All-In-One to Grade 5 Music Theory (Third Edition). It covers additional topics required by the Trinity College London Music Theory syllabus that are not included in the main book.
Who needs this supplement?
This supplement is for Trinity music theory students who already own All-In-One to Grade 5 (Third Edition).
ABRSM students do not need this supplement.
The relevant Trinity material is already included in the appendices of All-In-One: Grades 1–3 and All-In-One: Grades 4–5.
If you own either of these books, you do not need to buy the separate Trinity Supplement.
Topics covered
The Trinity Music Theory Supplement covers topics including:
- Ostinato
- Syncopation
- Sequences
- The Moveable Doh system
- Natural minor scales
- Pentatonic scales
- Inverted intervals
- Arpeggios
- Broken chords
- Writing four-part (SATB) chords
- Seventh chords
- Adding a bass line to a melody
- Adding a melody to a bass line
- Saxophone
- Guitar
- Recorder
These topics build on the core music theory covered in All-In-One to Grade 5. They provide the additional material needed by students following the Trinity syllabus.
Builds on All-In-One to Grade 5
The supplement builds directly on music theory concepts already taught in All-In-One to Grade 5.
For example, students who understand tonic chords and chord inversions can use this knowledge when learning about broken chords. Students who understand diatonic intervals can build on this knowledge when learning about inverted intervals.
The supplement provides a natural next step. It adds the Trinity-specific material required for Grades 1–5 without repeating the core theory in the main book.
Although designed primarily for Trinity students, the supplement is also useful for students of any music theory exam board who want to extend their knowledge beyond the standard ABRSM Grade 5 syllabus.
